I had this stereo for 2 years before all but two of the speakers and the Subwoofer cords snaped the connections are not very great I would suggest saving you money and buying a better quality stereo.
4 Stars decent system for the money
I have not had a problem but only had it a short time thus far. Guess we’re old because I don’t need a cd player loud enough to beat the neighbors. lol No humming etc… others are talking about yet. Sounds great with “in stereo” movies. Little low volume on ones that aren’t. So far it’s a decent system for watching movies and playing cd’s on – esp. for the money. If your a kid who wants a system that will blow your drums out then buy something else. If you want a decent and inexpensive system that plays movies and cd’s well then it’s a good deal. We may try 2 different speakers later for the front.

5 Stars Love them
This device can be used with an HDTV to listen to the true 5.1 sound. I use a small HDTV for a computer monitor, and sometimes I just want to watch TV. Headphones can’t reproduce the sound the same way a home theater does, because as you move your head, the headphones move with you, but they produce as good a listening experience as you can get if you don’t want to use speakers and disturb those around you. I would market them as an HDTV device instead of a gamer’s device. I work at a TV station, and it is helpful to be able to monitor the work I have done with such an inexpensive and useful item. Don’t expect them to replace a whole home theater, but for what they are, they work just fine.

Sure these are not audiophile headphones, but for the price they are still pretty good for movies and music. They perform best for gaming though. I use these headphones to play first person shooters. The positional cues are excellent. I can hear exactly what direction each sound is coming from. It’s a big advantage. The positional cues work best when using the dolby 5.1 processing from my sound card. Using spdif output from the sound card without dolby sounds muddy. It can help to tweak the equalizer on the sound card output. They seem to be heavy on bass and treble, with midrange being weak. I wish they had a built in mic, but overall they are a great deal for fps phones.

I bought these a few years ago, but didn’t use them much. Recently my wife started harping on me to turn the tv down at night. So I started using these again as I wanted to hear the surround channels of my dvds.
They are ok for tv programs and have great surround separation. Any modern movies or dvd audio/sacd sound poor. Until I can afford a high quality pair these do nicely.
5 Stars Excellent headphones for videogames.
I use them to play with the Xbox 360 and they work very well. The surround effect works great giving you the front rear separation in the games. And for 13 bucks they were a bargain.
I’m no expert and I suppose that there are headphones that give you the best quality surround sound but for playing at night and don’t wake everybody in the house they work great.
I don’t see the point of giving you the rechargeable battery option since one will probably have them plugged in next to the xbox, tv, dvd, etc.
1 Star Don’t waste the money
I purchased these to test the surround headphones theory. They were quite the disappointment. They sound particularly bad when watching movies. The dialogue sounds muffled and distant, as if you are hearing it through a tank of water. In a pinch, the phones work acceptably for gaming. With the digital out cable, there is enough separation of sound to get a sense of direction, but the volume levels of particular channels aren’t adjustable, so it’s not a substitute for a normal room system. I used these for Socom Confrontation and COD 4 on the PS3. It was generally difficult to tell how close sounds were coming from. In general, I’d say save the 20 bucks that you would waste on these and save for a higher quality pair. If you don’t agree, I’d be happy to sell you mine.
